VisibilyRanking vs Wellows (2026): a citation workflow or the whole loop?
Wellows is a citation-first AI visibility platform with a single answer balance and outreach targets. VisibilyRanking adds AI crawler logs, traffic attribution and a content agent with a review inbox. A fair head-to-head.
Wellows deserves a proper look before anyone dismisses it as a cheap tracker. It scores visibility on citations instead of mentions, it splits those citations in a way that makes outreach easier to plan, and since its September 2026 repricing every plan carries unlimited prompts, projects and seats. If it's on your shortlist next to VisibilyRanking, you're comparing two products that both try to tell you why an engine picked someone else.
We build VisibilyRanking, so read this knowing which side we're on. Wellows facts come from wellows.com/pricing and wellows.com/llms.txt (last updated 23 September 2026), both read on 25 October 2026. Promptwatch facts come from its llms.txt, re-checked on 21 October 2026.
The quick verdict
Wellows is the better fit for a team whose AI search work is mostly citation building and outreach, on a published price with a 7-day trial. VisibilyRanking is the better fit when you also need to know whether AI crawlers can reach your pages, which AI visits turned into signups and sales, and what to publish next, all tied to the same prompt set. That's the loop we built for, and it's why we come out ahead in this comparison.
How each one reads an answer
Wellows collects answers from each engine's public interface, logged out with web search on. It extracts every source in the citation list, reads those pages, and counts two kinds of citation. Explicit is the engine citing your own page. Implicit is the engine citing a third-party page, like a review site, roundup or forum thread, that mentions you. Its AI Visibility Score is your share of citations against up to ten tracked competitors, and its Citation Score blends both citation types, weighted by intent and competitor share of voice. Branded and non-branded prompts are split.
VisibilyRanking records which brands each engine names, in what order, and how that shifts week to week. Citation analytics shows the pages and domains each engine leaned on, from your own site to Reddit threads, YouTube videos and review sites. Competitor benchmarking adds share of voice, sentiment and average position per engine and per market.
The honest summary: Wellows' explicit and implicit framing is sharper than most for outreach planning. VisibilyRanking puts more weight on position in the answer and on what happens after it.
Engines and markets
Wellows tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini on every plan. It says it does not track Claude or Microsoft Copilot. Credit where it's due: Google AI Mode is on Wellows' list and not on ours.
VisibilyRanking tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, Meta AI and Google AI Overviews, and you choose which engines and countries each prompt runs on. Prompts are grouped by topic, persona and country from the first setup call. Wellows measures regions separately without a plan cap, and runs daily or weekly per project.
Crawler logs and attribution
This is the clearest gap. Wellows does not publish AI crawler logs, and it does not publish visitor analytics that tie AI-referred sessions to conversions. Its own FAQ is open about why that matters less to them: rising citations often don't show up as referral traffic, because many answers resolve on the spot.
VisibilyRanking connects to your CDN or host so you can watch GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot fetch your pages, and catch the 404s and blocked paths before they cost you an answer. A small script or tag manager snippet tags visits from AI engines and follows them through to signups and sales. If a citation campaign works but the cited page returns errors to crawlers, you'll see it here first.
Acting on the gaps
Wellows has a real act layer. Quick Wins ranks actions with estimated citation counts. Content Opportunities flags prompts where competitors are cited and you aren't. KIVA, its writing agent, drafts against your Google Search Console data and can send drafts to WordPress for editing. Outreach lists cited third-party pages that never mention you, with contact emails and a template. That outreach list is the feature we'd most like to point out to any PR team.
VisibilyRanking's content agent turns gaps into drafts: comparison pages, answer blocks, and refreshes of pages that rank in Google but never get cited. Everything waits in a review inbox before it goes to your CMS. Citation analytics gives you the outreach plan, without Wellows' contact lookup.
Agencies
Wellows' model is unusually agency-friendly: one monthly balance of AI answers shared across unlimited projects and seats, with white-label reporting and client dashboards on every plan. When the balance runs out, collection pauses until the billing date, and unused answers don't roll over, so busy months need planning.
VisibilyRanking gives each client a separate workspace, prospect audits you can bring to a pitch, and client-ready reports without the spreadsheet step.
Pricing
Wellows publishes its prices. Basic is $29/mo for 1,800 answers, Standard $97 for 6,500, Growth $249 for 18,000 and Scale $497 for 36,000, with custom plans above that. One answer is one prompt asked of one engine on one day. Every plan includes all five engines and every feature, with a 7-day trial and no free plan.
VisibilyRanking has no self-serve signup. Pricing is set by the number of brands, prompts and markets you track, and it's quoted after the demo, in writing, before you commit.

Where Promptwatch fits
If you want the full loop but prefer to start self-serve, Promptwatch is the option we'd point you to second. It covers the same ground: prompt tracking with search volumes and query fan-outs, citation analytics down to Reddit and YouTube, AI crawler logs, visitor analytics with conversions, and an automated Content Agent on its Business plan. Paid brand plans start at $95/mo after a free Explore tier, and agency plans start at $199/mo.
